Launch on Command, Begins May 23

Launch on Command at Pier 33 Marina

We are pleased to announce that Pier 33 will begin Launch on Command and Hook ‘n Go services on Saturday May 23! Read this entire post to view our initial hours of LOC operation.

GETTING YOUR BOAT READY

Our crew has been working diligently to get our winter storage boaters on the water and we are now positioning boats for the Launch on Command season.

As the Holiday Weekend opening is approaching, it is important that we know whether or not you are currently planning to be with us that weekend. That will help us focus on the boats expected to be in use for the first three days. If you have not yet done so, please e-mail Pier 33 Service Manager Brenda Krugh and advise Brenda that you either will be or will not be boating with us during the May 23 – 25 Weekend.

Our ordinary procedure for each boat is to hook up batteries, ensure drain plug is in place and rinse off exterior wintertime dust. In addition to that procedure, you may request Spring Commissioning through our Service Office. Spring Commissioning includes:

  • CHECK/CHARGE BATTERIES AS NEEDED, CHECK FLUIDS, ADD AS NECESSARY AND START ENGINE TO CONFIRM READY FOR SEASON. ADVISE OF ANY ISSUES FOUND.  Single Engine =$95.00, Twin Engine = $142.50

To add Spring Commissioning to your season-opening plan, please contact Brenda Krugh.

If you are submitting a new request for preventive maintenance, those items will be scheduled for completion during the weeks to follow.

PROCEDURES – LOC BOATERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

As in all of our processes, there will be some changes and requests that we will make of you, for the safety of you and your crew, as well as our staff. Some of these procedures are temporary and some may be modified as we move ahead. We’ll keep you posted as changes occur.

  • Always reserve your LOC launch by using the SpeedyDock app. If you are a returning boater, last year’s SpeedyDock account should still be accessible to you. If you have log-in problems, please contact Rebekah Shafer.
  • Launch reservation slots are spaced 10 minutes apart. This will help eliminate congestion at the LOC launch area. Please arrive on site no more than about 10 minutes before your reserved time. Stop just inside our Service Office (Door #7) and please remain behind the red rope. A staffer will check you in and the launch crew will be notified that you are on site. Proceed, as per usual, to the parking area/waiting area and await for your launch.
  • Our crew will launch and tie-off your boat. Please remain behind the gate and yellow line while this is taking place. Once our crew has exited the dock, please load your boat with your passengers and gear. Take care in boarding. Perform your start-up procedure. Once you are all on board and running, our crew will return to the dock and will release your lines and cast you off.
  • Our staff will be wearing protective masks, gloves and will have sanitizer ready as needed. Since contact may occur inadvertently, please also wear face covering when around the dock.
  • Upon return, our crew will provide a catch at the dock whenever possible. Please wait on board while the crew ties-off your boat. The crew will leave the dock, giving you and your passengers room to safely debark. Please do so safely and quickly so that we can land the next boat. After you and your passengers are ashore, we’ll haul it out, rinse it off and set it indoors for your next ride!
  • If you are returning to an adjacent dock (any dock other than #3), our boat driving staff will move your boat to the haul slot (#3) and will wipe down all controls, wheel and other key touch points with a sanitizer.
